How to Successfully Lose Love Handles
Many have asked the question on how to lose love handles successfully with no one approach getting the top billing. Yes there are a many ways to burn fat and improve your fitness level at the same time but they tend to fit into two basic categories; aerobic and anaerobic. Both of these approaches will burn fat and improve fitness levels if done consistently and correctly.
Anaerobic Workouts
The body has engineered within its physiology two energy systems each with a specific purpose. The anaerobic energy system is designed to provide sufficient energy for short term needs. Aero means “air” and so anaerobic activities require less inhale and exhale activity.
Weight training is primarily an anaerobic activity requiring energy for repetitions, rest and sets. A set will usually take no more then 2-3 minutes with a 2-3 minute rest between. Activity is sustained only for very short periods of time. The anaerobic energy system depends on the glucose available in the bloodstream. Many sports and exercise programs are primarily anaerobic including baseball, tennis and football for example. 
Aerobic Workouts
Exercise programs and sports that are considered aerobic require long and sustained effort. Running a 10k race, hockey and soccer are a few sports that require long durations of energy and effort. As aero means “air” activities classified as aerobic require large volumes of air during their performance. Working on the treadmill, a cardio workout and the rowing machine are good examples.
Every sport or exercise begins as anaerobic but as air, heat and energy levels increase a shift to the aerobic energy system occurs. Aerobic activities invoke a shift from drawing energy from the glucose in the blood stream to burning energy from stored reserves. This shift in energy pathways is why aerobic activities burn more fat then anaerobic activities.

Benefits of a Combination Workout
Both anaerobic and aerobic activities have benefits to lose love handles. A combination workout will allow you to consistently improve endurance, intensity and engagement while burning fat. Anaerobic activities can get your muscles moving and aerobic activities can keep it moving. Intensity up from and sustained activity will burn fat consistently.
Anaerobic activities such as weight training can be combined with aerobic activities such as power walking to get double the benefits. The weights will had a level of intensity while sustained walking will kick in the fat burning system to lose love handles and fat around the mid-section.
Fueling Workouts
Include foods from all five food groups; no one food group meets the nutritional requirement of the body. By eating from the full spectrum of foods available you will be able to obtain the necessary vitamins and minerals. There is no food group capable of providing all the necessary vitamins and minerals you need on a daily basis.
Meals containing whole grains, fruits and vegetables will provide many of the essential daily requirements of vitamins, minerals and fiber. These foods contain little or no fat and are generally low in calories as well so they can be enjoyed guilt free. These foods are also converted into energy rather efficiently by the body for short and long term needs.
Eating foods that are low in fat will assist you to lose love handles but avoid eating no-fat in your diet. You want your metabolism to continue to burn fat for energy by including modest portions with meals. When you do include foods containing fat be sure it is unsaturated fat and not saturated fat. Stay away from foods containing trans-fatty acids as the health risks of these fats is still uncertain but doesn’t look optimistic. Instead select roods that are fresh and not processed as these are the most nutritious and contribute to your good health.
